George Fernandez Appointed to Governor’s Advisory Commission on Latino Affairs
Tuesday, 02 May 2017 Michelle Connett-BergsteinHARRISBURG -- The Pennsylvania Office of the Governor has elected George Fernandez to the Governor’s Advisory Commission on Latino Affairs. George Fernandez, CEO of Latino Connection and Publisher of the bilingual publication Latino Connection Magazine, will be sworn in on Monday May 1st, 2017. The Governor’s Advisory Commission on Latino Affairs serves the purpose of identifying and advising the Governor of Pennsylvania on policies impacting the Latino community. The Advisory Commission is comprised of members from several communities in Pennsylvania that represent different sectors and are leaders in their industries. The Advisory Commission has a direct impact on the legislation that involves the Latino community and serves as a liaison between the community and the law makers. As CEO of Latino Connection, Fernandez has dedicated his career to alleviating the deficiency of resources within the Latino Community. Through education, translation services, marketing techniques, outreach and more, Fernandez with Latino Connection is making strides in delivering authentic resources and information to the homes of Latinos while helping big businesses tap into an under-served market. “Latino Connection’s team is comprised of people from the same community that we serve, we are the trustworthy voice of our people,” said Fernandez. “Being on the Governor’s Advisory Commission on Latino Affairs will grant me a duty to the community; a great obligation to be a voice of my people and influence further economic growth for one of the fastest growing demographics in this country and our commonwealth.” Along with Latino Connection, Fernandez is involved in his community as a loyal supporter of various causes including The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, The Boys and Girls Club of Central PA and as a member of the Rotary Club of Harrisburg. He is an active member of Leadership Harrisburg Area, Pennsylvania Parks and Forests Foundation, Family Health Council of Central PA, President of the Community Action Commission of South Central PA and serves on the Board of Directors of the Greater Philadelphia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. His work has granted him many prestigious honors including the Jefferson Award and Central Penn Business Journal's "Forty Under 40."
